Path A: Detailed Injection Technique & Site Rotation (for Pen/Syringe)

For general safety rules, see General Injection Safety Concepts.

  • Site selection
Choose a spot with a good fat layer: abdomen (at least two inches from the navel), front or outer thigh, or the back of the upper arm. Stay clear of bony areas and joints.

  • Rotation
Rotating sites prevents lumps (lipohypertrophy) and keeps absorption steady.

    • Divide each large area (left abdomen, right thigh, etc.) into several smaller sections.
    • Pick a point 1–2 inches from your last injection.
    • Use one general region for a week, then move to another, or follow a pattern such as upper-left abdomen → lower-left abdomen → upper-right abdomen → lower-right abdomen → thigh.
    • Keep a simple log or calendar so you do not repeat the exact spot.
    • Avoid moles, scars, stretch marks, bruises, and any skin that is red, broken, infected, or hardened.
  • Injection angle

    • Pens: hold flat against the skin (90 degrees).
    • Syringes: 90 degrees or 45 degrees, sometimes with a gentle skin pinch; follow the instructions for your needle length and body type.
  • After the injection
If you see a small drop of blood, press lightly with cotton or gauze for a few seconds. Do not rub the site.
